For over a decade, RGN has been the trusted partner of Isala, successfully implementing wayfinding solutions at various locations, including buildings in Zwolle, Heerde, Kampen, and more. Once again, RGN was commissioned to oversee and implement a new wayfinding system in and around the newly build hospital in Meppel.

Where healthcare and innovation come together

The start of this project dates back to May 2020 when initial discussions began for the wayfinding project in this state-of-the-art hospital. Isala, in collaboration with Noorderboog, aspired to establish a healthcare institution that not only offers personal and professional support to the elderly but also addresses issues related to aging. The outcome? A new hospital, inaugurated on March 19, 2022, where healthcare and innovation intersect.

RGN took charge of the entire quotation process, closely collaborating with several partners to ensure that every detail aligned seamlessly with Isala Meppel’s vision. Furthermore, a comprehensive inventory of all required signs, pictograms, and other elements inside and outside the building was conducted, resulting in a seamless and intuitive experience for patients and visitors.

A distinctive identity

What set this project apart was the decision to create a unique identity for the hospital. In collaboration with Geerdes Ontwerpen and Isala Meppel’s new build project manager, we chose to create a distinctive appearance that authentically reflects the essence of Isala Meppel, while integrating Isala’s style.

With the final realization of nearly 1800 indoor signs and film applications, along with approximately 80 outdoor signs within a short three-month period, RGN delivered a masterpiece. The implementation was executed with precision by Wayfinding NL, under the supervision of RGN.
